With a beautiful straw-yellow color, the Bastor-Lamontagne 2005 presents fine and delicately woody aromas of citrus and exotic fruits (lemon, mango). The unctuous attack on white fruit notes (pear) continues on acidulous and spicy notes. Generous and balanced wine whose finish, with notes of candied citron, has a beautiful freshness.
"Very beautiful richness on this vintage with a beautiful balance".
Margaux Reeder
The water deficit observed from June onwards contributed to limiting the vegetative development of the vine. Temperatures in July were slightly higher than normal, accelerating the veraison of the grapes, which took place at the beginning of August eight days earlier than normal. The dry climate, without excessive heat, was ideal to produce a grape both rich in sugar and with a nice acidity. The rains at the beginning of September allowed a good development of botrytis on perfectly ripe grapes. The 2005 harvest took place over 4 weeks from September 14 to October 19. From two to three selections, depending on the plots, were necessary to carry out this harvest.

This 2005 vintage was very much appreciated for its great delicacy and elegance. Sommeliers International in 2011 described it quite simply as "sublime"!

Often described as "modern Sauternes", Château Bastor-Lamontagne favours freshness and harmony. Less concentrated than some of its peers, it is a "relaxed" Sauternes as an aperitif and at the beginning of a meal, which retains all its capacity for ageing thanks to its beautiful freshness.
